Welcome to the May aliaNEWS!

What a month for both the LIS world and ALIA. Not only do we celebrate Information Awareness Month in May, but we can Access All Areas with Library and Information Week, find out why Little White Dogs Can't Jump at National Simultaneous Storytime, and celebrate our Library Technicians on National Library Technicians Day. This month also sees the introduction of our new 2010-2012 Board members, as we farewell Jan Richards and welcome new ALIA President Graham Black.

WE REMEMBER

ALIA was saddened to learn of the deaths of two prominent Western Australian members.

  • Jillian Beswick will be remembered as an active, committed, and passionate member, who worked in school and public libraries in both NSW and WA during a long and varied career.
  • June Rider Jones was a member of ALIA for almost 60 years. She will be remembered by colleagues at the Royal Perth Hospital, where she was Head Librarian, as dedicated, focused, and committed to helping those around her.
