Professional Conference Organiser (PCO) of ALIA’s conferences 2011-2012
The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) is now inviting tender submissions as the PCO of ALIA’s national conferences and events for 2011-2012. This is an open tender and we encourage event companies who are involved in conference and event management to submit a proposal if their company meets all the criteria as set out in the tender document. The ALIA PD Scheme audit
The PD Scheme audit is starting soon. Selection for participation in the audit is completely random and will involve 10% of the PD Scheme registrants. All members selected to participate in the 2007-2008 audit will be required to provide a record of PD activities as per the requirements of the scheme. 4th ALIA New Librarians Symposium – there is still time to register!
In December 2008, over 250 delegates from around Australia and beyond will converge onto Melbourne for a 2-day symposium addressing the challenges that new library and information professionals encounter. The theme for this year’s symposium is Breaking Barriers and will feature an inspiring program of high-profile keynote speakers, including Mark Pesce, Elaina Norlin, Erik Boekesteijn & Jaap Van De Geer, Sherman Young, and Janette Wright.

ALIA 2009 National Library and Information Technicians Conference - call for papers
The organising committee invites you to submit conference papers, tutorials and interactive workshop presentations that fit within the daily themes of Technology, Technique, Unique. The conference will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre 15-18 September 2009.

ALIA scholarships for attending RAILS5
ALIA is offering two $1500 scholarships to assist with travel and accommodation expenses for attending RAILS5 in Sydney on 23 January 2009. One scholarship will be awarded to a recently-appointed academic or postgraduate student in LIS or a related field. The other will be awarded to an early career information professional. In both cases, acceptance of a refereed paper for presentation would be a prerequisite for eligibility. You must also be a current financial member of ALIA. If you wish to be considered for either scholarship, please include a brief supporting statement and curriculum vitae with your paper submission.http://www.communication.uts.edu.au/conferences/rails/
RAILS5 – call for papers extended
RAILS5 (Research Applications in Information & Library Studies Conference) will be held at the University of Technology, Sydney on Friday, January 23, 2009, as a satellite event to ALIA Information Online Conference. The call for both refereed papers and short presentations has been extended to 17 November 2008. The RAILS conference aims to bring together practitioners, educators and researchers in the fields of librarianship, information management and knowledge management. Broadband, libraries and the creation of Australian digital culture – 18 November
This one-day seminar is jointly supported by ALIA, Charles Sturt University and the National Library of Australia.
