Environment and Conservation Collections Fellowship

ALIA is looking for an interested member to join the ALIA-ASLA Policy Advisory Group. Candidates should hold teacher-librarian qualifications. Safer Internet Day 2008 – 12 February

Take part in the SID 2008, and celebrate the right of every child to enjoy safe and rewarding internet experiences. Organised by the European internet safety network Insafe, the event is being held on 12 February with the theme 'Life online is what YOU make of IT’.

ALJ’s special issue on 'Community and workplace information literacy’ is due to be published in May with guest editor Helen Partridge. Library Stars: best of the best 2008 – Call for Submissions

The Library Stars forum, hosted by ALIA’s Public Libraries Advisory Committee (PLAC), will showcase public libraries, their projects, and successes on 2 September 2008 at a satellite event as part of the ALIA 2008 Biennial Conference in Alice Springs. Public libraries are invited to submit a proposal for presentation. Three will be selected and those libraries will be given a travel grant of $1,000 each to assist with costs in attending the conference. Deadline for proposals is 29 February.

Jean Primrose Whyte Churchill Fellowship 2008

The Churchill Trust is seeking applications from **SA residents only** for Fellowships to be awarded in June 2008 for the study of an aspect of library and information services. Each Fellowship available has an average value of $25,000 and includes return economy airfare and an oversea living allowance. There are no prescribed qualifications required with the merit of the proposal being the primary test. Deadline is 29 February 2008.

ALIA Education and Workforce Summit 2008

The Education and Workforce Summit will be held on Friday 28 March 2008 at the State Library of Victoria. It will discuss critical issues in library and information education and in the library workforce. ALIA members and groups are invited to make submissions and comments to the Summit which will be made available on the website.

The leading Conference for the online information industry in the Asia-Pacific region, Information Online will be held in Sydney 20 -22 January 2009 with satellite events Monday 19 and Friday 23 January. The call for papers is now on. Deadline is 28 March 2008.

4th ALIA New Librarians Symposium – Call for Papers

The 4th ALIA New Librarians Symposium (NLS4) will be held in Melbourne on 5-6 December 2008. The NLS4 Committee is calling for papers in keeping with the Symposium theme of 'Breaking Barriers’. Jean Arnot Memorial Fellowship 2008

Awarded to a female librarian or student of librarianship for an outstanding paper on any aspect of librarianship, this Fellowship is funded by the National Council of Women in New South Wales Incorporated and the Australian Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Associations Incorporate. An award of $1000 will be presented to the winner at the annual Jean Arnot Memorial Luncheon to be held on 9 May 2008. Applications close on 14 April 2008.
