Beyond the hype: Web 2.0 - Call for abstracts and registrations

ALIA is proud to present Beyond the Hype 2008: Web 2.0 from 1-2 February 2008 at the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane with registration closing 18 January 2008. Beyond the Hype 2008 will introduce, discuss and debate issues about Web 2.0, its impact, its usefulness, discussing whether it's of benefit to your library, and possible ways of incorporating it in to libraries.

Environment and Conservation Collections Fellowship

The State Library of New South Wales is seeking a suitably qualified person with a demonstrated record of research for a Fellowship supported by the Purves Environmental Fund. It is anticipated that the Fellowship, valued at $40,000 will extend over a 12 month period, with the successful applicant being located at the State Library for at least some of that time. Applications close on 31 January 2008.

The 4th ALIA New Librarians Symposium (NLS4) will be held in Melbourne on 5-6 December 2008. The NLS4 Committee is calling for papers in keeping with the Symposium theme of Breaking Barriers. Jean Arnot Memorial Fellowship 2008.

Awarded to a female librarian or student of librarianship for an outstanding paper on any aspect of librarianship, this Fellowship is funded by the National Council of Women in New South Wales Incorporated and the Australian Federation of Business and Professional Women's Associations Incorporate. An award of $1000 will be presented to the winner at the annual Jean Arnot Memorial Luncheon to be held on 9 May 2008. Applications close on 14 April 2008.

The 2008 Jean Primrose Whyte Churchill Fellowship

The Churchill Trust is seeking applications from **SA residents only** for Fellowships to be awarded in June 2008 for the study of an aspect of library and information services. Each Fellowship available has an average value of $25,000 and includes return economy airfare and an oversea living allowance. There are no prescribed qualifications required with the merit of the proposal being the primary test. Applications for the award of Fellowships in the 2008 round need to be submitted between 1 November 2007 and 29 February 2008.
