Revision of e-list guidelines


The Board discussed the revision of e-list guidelines. Revised policy will be developed considering member views and will have a consultation period with members before finalisation. There is still time to provide feedback on ALIA e-list guidelines. The deadline for feedback is Friday 30th March 2007. Innovative Ideas Forum 2007


The NLA is hosting an Innovative Ideas Forum again in 2007. Last year's event was received very enthusiastically, and the 2007 program aims to inform and challenge you in a similar way. Books Alive


pic This year's Books Alive campaign begins on Wednesday 25 July and finishes on Friday 31 August 2007. This year's gift book is a new biography The Ballad of Les Darcy by Peter FitzSimons. FREE to libraries: The 2007 Books Alive Great Read Guide and poster packs are available. Libraries may arrange an author visit during the campaign. Colin Simpson Memorial Lecture, 31 March


The Australian Society of Authors will present the Annual Colin Simpson Memorial Lecture at 11.30 am on 31 March. Location: Redfern Town Hall, Pitt Street, Redfern. ASA members and members of the public are welcome to hear authors Chris Masters and Neil Chenoweth talk about influence and power in Australia. Admission free, but places limited. Colin Simpson worked on the implementation of Public Lending Right in Australia. PLR currently distributes over $6 million to Australian literary creators. Libs for Africa update


You have responded wonderfully to our call to help African librarians go to IFLA. The fund is now almost $6000 and we have pledges of another $1000: enough for more than ten librarians to attend the conference. One full registration was generously donated by the Friends of Ipswich Library Service and the National Library of Australia.

Towards a Knowledge Commons: conference


As part of the joint Monash University and the Victorian Association of TAFE Libraries research project 'Towards a Knowledge Commons: Modelling a transformation of library services and information resource provision in the Vocational Education Sector' a search conference will be held on Monday 2 April at William Angliss Institute of TAFE, Conference Centre. It will provide a forum for a collaborative approach to knowledge sharing and knowledge production in examining the provision of library and information resources within this sector for the future.
