ALIAnet, and password access for members
We are still working hard at recreating the seamless login for members that was enjoyed prior to March 2005. Members desiring access to members-only sections of the website should contact the ALIA membership team for the *temporary* credentials required. Access to your personal membership details at http://membership.alia.org.au is unaffected: your previous password still applies. The simple rule is: if a dialog box appears with the words 'Enter username and password for "Members-only area" at http://alia.org.au', then enter the temporary credentials. However, if a page appears suggesting 'Member login required...', then please use your existing credentials.

Digital Amnesia seminar
The digital revolution has transformed the way we do business. Publication of a document in today's world generally means that it goes up on the authoring organisation's website as soon as it is available in hard copy. Often publication on the website is the main form of publication and just a handful of hard copies are made. To alert policy makers to the traps for the unwary in managing publications online, ALIA presented a seminar titled 'Digital Amnesia - Challenges of Government Online', which was sponsored by the National Library of Australia and the National Archives of Australia. A report of the seminar and the papers will appear soon.

Affinity program
ALIA developed an affinity program at the request of members through the ALIA NPC. Current partnerships include Hertz (which offers ALIA members discounted rental rates for vehicles in the Hertz range, and free Hertz #1 Club Gold membership - normal cost $50.00 pa.); Manchester Unity (making health cover more affordable for ALIA members); and the HotelClub (the largest online reservation network in Australia, which offers members significant discounts on a range of hotels throughout the world). Negotiations are currently taking place to source further affinity partnerships.

ALIA-CAVAL partnership
ALIA is pleased to announce a partnership with CAVAL that grants members access to CAVAL training courses at a discounted fee. CAVAL offers a generous 15% early-bird discount to anyone registering more than four weeks before a course. ALIA members registering after this will still receive a 5% discount. To receive the discount, members are required to provide a password to CAVAL when registering. Please note: the password is changed regularly, so check the URL below before registering for a course. ALIA and CAVAL are also working together to take training to ALIA members in regional and remote areas.

ALIA CPD (PD) scheme
With the ALIA membership year coming to a close, this is a timely reminder that 30 June is also the end of the CPD year for those participating in the ALIA CPD scheme. Now is the time to make sure that you have your records up-to-date for the year. Avoid being caught by surprise if asked to participate in the annual random audit of the CPD scheme (to be conducted in October 2005). If you have any questions about ALIA's CPD scheme please contact Jill Yvanovich ph 02 6215 8258 [cpd@alia.org.au].

Changing terminology for CPD
ALIA is changing the name of the Association's professional development scheme from Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to Professional Development. The scheme content will remain the same. You will note that changes have been implemented on the ALIA website, and we anticipate that the move to the new terminology will be completed by 30 June 2005. ALIA's professional development year remains unchanged and will commence on 1 July 2005 and conclude on 30 June 2006. If you have any questions about ALIA's PD services please contact Jill Yvanovich, ph 02 6215 8258 [jill.yvanovich@alia.org.au].
