ALIA responds to Qld Pay Equity case findings
As one of 28 organisations which made submissions to the Queensland Government's pay equity inquiry, ALIA has accepted an invitation to comment on its findings from Gordon Nuttall, Minister for Industrial Relations. The Inquiry's findings can be found
at [http://www.detir.qld.gov.au/qirc/finalreport.htm], and our original submission is at http://www.alia.org.au/advocacy/submissions/qld.pay-equity.html,

ALIA Board of Directors meeting
The Board of Directors met in Melbourne on 10 May, followed by the AGM where new directors Moyra McAllister and Kevin Dudeney joined the Board and retiring president Mairéad Browne and director Craig Anderson were thanked for their outstanding contribution over the last few years. The lobbying and advocacy program was agreed to, all proposed new groups endorsed, and a new personal membership fee and benefits structure endorsed.

Membership renewal changes
Renewal notices for 2001-02 will be mailed to all members in the first week of June. Significant changes have taken place, with a simpler, three-tier fee structure for personal members: Full fee $198, Reduced fee $99 and Student/Retired fee $49.50. The
fees include GST, and membership of new Groups that you elect to join. Personal members may also elect to pay regular monthly instalments, via the direct debit option. The institutional membership fee structure remains unchanged and incorporates a slight
consumer price index-related increase.

New ALIA groups structure
As part of the restructuring of the Association, 64 new Groups have been established and endorsed. Members of the Association may elect to join one or more groups as part of their membership, at no additional cost.

New value-added benefits
Membership now entitles you to: member rates for activities and publications of ALIA-partner associations; member-only access to new services being introduced in 2001; discounts from selected training providers, and personal financial benefits through
a range of affinity programs currently being introduced. This is in addition to the professional services which ALIA provides to represent and support you and the profession and better the library and information services provided to all Australians. ALIA
looks forward to your continued support and involvement. Keep an eye out for the renewal form! The website will be updated as details are finalised.
