National Simultaneous Storytime 2008

Activity sheets

ANIMAL HEAD BANDS

To help out with your National Simultaneous Storytime event and function we have put our heads together and come up with some great Arthur inspired activity ideas!

YOU WILL NEED:

photocopied templates
textas/coloured pencils
scissors
strips of paper
sticky tape or staples
string (optional)

Download the Activity Sheet to download the following templates:

ANIMAL HEAD BANDS

  1. Download template PDF
  2. Print out head band templates for children to colour in
  3. Cut out animal characters
  4. Cut out headband strips using left over paper
  5. Join the strips of paper end to end
  6. Tape animal heads to the strips of paper creating a headband.

FINGER PUPPETS

  1. Download template PDF
  2. Print out templates,
  3. colour in and cut out the images to use as visual aids to tell the story.
  4. Hand out copies of the template to children to make their own finger puppets after storytime.

THE SNAKE

  1. Download template PDF
  2. Print out the snake template for children to colour in.
  3. Cut along the spiral which will result in an apple peel affect.
  4. Cut out snakes head and attach to body.
  5. Several snakes can be hung from the tail end on a coat hanger to make a mobile.

THE FISH

  1. Download template PDF
  2. Print out the fish template for children to colour in.
  3. Fold the tail section into a fan loosely using the printed lines as a guide.
  4. Tape or staple the fanned tail to the fish body.
