Copyright and the Digital Agenda Bill

The following is an extract from the Chair of the Australian Libraries Copyright Committee (ALCC) message to ALCC members:

'As you know the Bill is out and contains significant and detrimental changes affecting libraries in the corporate sector, and therefore the ability of these libraries to be partners in the interlending network in both print and electronic worlds.

I have accordingly contacted Jamie Wodetzki to formally commission him to provide a commentary on the Bill which may be used as the basis of lobbying and media based activities in the next few weeks. Jamie has agreed.

In the meantime it should be noted that some sectors of the Library world stand to be significantly affected, including law librarians and their networks.

With best wishes

Tom Cochrane'

ALIA is a member of both the ALCC and the Australian Digital Alliance (ADA). ALIA will be working with both the ALCC and ADA to ensure that the interests of its members are represented.
