(Re)imagining the future of multicultural collection

(Re)imagining the future of multicultural collection

Event Description

Fifty years on, how should we (re)imagine multiculturalism in Australian public libraries? Public libraries have been stocking multicultural and multilingual items, but library collections and services and how library users access them have greatly changed in the last fifty years. In this webinar, using the case study of a Trove list project and a collaboration with NSW State Library, Joey Chung and Alice Chik will present and discuss the ways multicultural items can be used to (re)imagine Australian public libraries as multicultural and multilingual spaces.

Speakers

Alice Chik is an Associate Professor at the Macquarie School of Education, Macquarie University. She researches multilingual practices in everyday life, especially in digital spaces.

Joey Chung is a self-proclaimed crazy librarian and has been working towards breaking stereotypes since joining Holmesglen Institute.
